The council is an independent and impartial organization and also a federal chamber promoted by European bi national chambers and business committees, established with the patronage and initial seed capital provided by the European Commission. As a sequel to the establishment of the Indo-EC Joint Business Forum in New Delhi in March, 1992, the European Commission identified the council to be an appropriate counterpart to provide the required support services to the Joint Business Forum.
The Council’s membership consists of Foreign and Indian organizations connected directly or indirectly with Indo-EU trade, commerce, manufacturing, services and professions. With EU as the major trade partner for India, together with the strong two way investment flows, the contours of Indo EU bilateral relationship is changing and the council re-orients and rededicates itself to serve the cause of its members better.
