Peter Roebuck

Peter Roebuck

Sports Journalist

Peter Roebuck has been involved in cricket all his working life. After completing his law degree at Cambridge University he became a fixture in the successful Somerset County team of the 1980's and captained the side from 1986 to 1989. Upon retiring as a professional, he joined Devon and led them to a record breaking four consecutive Minor County titles.

Besides playing the game, Roebuck began writing about it and for the last twenty years has been the main cricket columnist for the Sydney Morning Herald and Melbourne Age. Eager to avoid nationalism and narrow-mindedness he has also featured regularly in various Indian and South African newspapers. He has also published 9 cricket books.

Nowadays Roebuck divides his time between Australia and Africa. He also plans to buy a house in Kerala. Recently he has helped to form the LBW Trust which gives opportunities in tertiary education to impoverished but capable students from cricket playing countries.
