MNEs redouble efforts to target key India Inc. decision makers to mitigate effects of slowdown
Major MNEs use flagship international summit in Mumbai to enhance 2009 prospects; key firms leveraging Leaders in India Business Forum 2009 to target active business leaders and managers amidst global recession.
April 2009, Mumbai: With marketing and business development budgets facing a squeeze commensurate with and fashioned by the global economic slowdown, it has become imperative for major firms to ensure that they retain mindspace with existing customers, and obtain visibility with the fewer and crucially important active buyers and deal makers in their target markets. Seeking a focused business platform that is able to cut across all key sectors and verticals within the burgeoning Indian economy has for long been a challenge for many major firms wishing to invest effectively to reach a relevant target audience.
Watson Wyatt, the trusted business partner to the world’s leading organisations on people and financial issues
and Invest Hong Kong, the territory’s official investment authority, have both recently selected the 2009 Leaders In India Business Forum to reach out directly to key decision makers within corporate India. The event, the first Indian chapter of the world’s largest series of leadership events, organised by global media giant Informa, brings celebrity business speakers and management gurus such as Tom Peters, Steve Forbes and Donald Trump Jr. together in India for the very first time. Other Leaders in India partners include The Trump Organization, Nokia, Time Magazine, Wall Street Journal Asia, Business India, Radio City, the World Trade Centre, Mumbai, and the EU Chambers of Commerce.
Abhaey Singh, Managing Director of Informa India commented that “At the best of times, and especially in the prevailing environment, it is crucial to be able to stand out in a cluttered competitive landscape. I am delighted that our partners have chosen to convey their thought leadership and unique value proposition via this highly relevant and targeted platform”.
'The message of the exemplary leaders at the forum is right on cue, because it draws from experience that a new generation of successful leaders may not yet have, and addresses our prevailing concerns on dealing with the current crisis', adds Singh.
With global delegations from over 15 countries and from major corporations such as GE, Tata, Johnson & Johnson, Abbott and Pitney Bowes among many others, this event is expected to be India’s largest meeting point for many global and Indian corporate leaders.
Featuring Indian leaders such as Adi Godrej, Kishore Biyani and Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, along with special guest speakers Abhinav Bindra and Shashi Tharoor, the event will also host The “IIBAAs” (Indo-International Business Achievement Awards).
